Your life matters: the Riviera Nayarit shares its Tourism Wellness and Best Practices Guide

  • The document contains a series of
international health and safety recommendations that can be adapted to the
different tourist services, especially with regards to hotels, to reactivate
    the destination.

In
the Riviera Nayarit, your life matters. This is how the Riviera Nayarit
Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has framed its Tourism Wellness and Best
Practices Guide, a document that contains the top international protocols
dealing with health and safety. The implementation of these recommendations is
intended to reduce the possibility of contagion from COVID-19 in tourism
establishments.

During
the last few weeks, the CVB and the Banderas Bay Hotel and Motel Association
(AHMBB) have been working together to get back on the market, preparing for the
reopening of the hotels—expected to take place in June—and gradually
implementing its communications and marketing strategy in the face of the
health crisis caused by the pandemic.

With
regards to the Tourism Wellness and Best Practices Guide, Marc Murphy, managing
director of the Riviera Nayarit CVB, added that without being an official
document endorsed by the Federal Government’s health and tourism authorities,
it does contain a series of international recommendations that can be adapted
to the different tourist companies in this destination.

“We intend to help the tourist feel
confident, one of the biggest challenges that the tourism sector will face in
the post COVID-19 era while guaranteeing quality and safety. A key element for
the future promotion of our destination is to ensure the well-being of both
locals and visitors; for us, this is, and will always be a priority,”
he said.

International Sanitation Protocols
To
ensure that the proposed guidelines are timely and aligned with the new
industry standards being established around the world, the CVB researched the
sanitation protocols established by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the
Center for Disease Control and Prevention in destinations such as the United
States, Canada, Singapore, and New Zealand, as well as those of major hotel
brands.

“We
are aware that some of the recommendations might evolve in the coming weeks
when the Ministry of Health is expected to publish the new federally mandated
standard protocols; meanwhile, our guide should serve as a baseline for what
travelers can expect,” said Marc Murphy.

Finally,
he added that he’s confident that with the implementation of these best
practices in tourism companies, the Riviera Nayarit will be ready to welcome
travelers—both domestic and international—within the next few weeks.

“We
want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the strength, solidarity, and
support of everyone during these difficult times. We especially want to thank
all those who are taking care of our health, those who are in the front line in
hospitals, and those who are now providing maintenance in tourist
establishments preparing for everyone’s return, with the only desire that
travelers can once again enjoy, in a safe manner, Mexico’s Pacific Treasure.”
