The Riviera Nayarit steps up its promotional work in the domestic market

  • The CVB and the AHMBB strengthened this tourist destination’s presence in CDMX, Toluca, and Puebla to incentivize the arrival of tourists for the upcoming summer season.

Over 280 travel agents and meeting planners enjoyed a first-hand look at the Riviera Nayarit’s latest developments during the first Promotional Tour of 2021, which visited Toluca, Puebla CDMX.

Between May 4 and 7, the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Banderas Bay Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) held six events aimed at three different markets or segments. This initiative is part of their efforts to reactivate sales from this critical region to the Riviera Nayarit.

Representatives of the different hotels held meetings in each city to update agents on new sales strategies.  At the beginning of each event, each exhibitor gave a 5-minute presentation on their product, according to the following schedule:

  • Tuesday, May 4: Meeting with 70 leisure travel agents and presentation to 35 meeting planners.
  • Wednesday, May 5: Meeting with 45 leisure travel agents from the north side of the CDMX. Presentation to 40 luxury travel agents.
  • Thursday, May 6: Meeting with 40 leisure travel agents from Toluca, State of Mexico.
  • Friday, May 7: Meeting with 50 leisure travel agents from Puebla, Puebla.

The luxury market

Representatives of the top luxury and Virtuoso agencies attended these events, including Viajes Excelsior, Felgueres, BCD Travel, Nuba Mexico (Lozano Travel), Creative Travel, Texmar, Terranova, Jaunt Travel, Enzo Travel, Elvetia Travel Group, Vintermex. Other important companies also attended, such as Mundo Mex, Viajes Palacio, Premium Travel, and the VIP sales department of the El Corte Inglés Agency. Incidentally, this last company is about to open an office in the region, which will substantially help to increase sales to the destination, according to information provided by Commercial Director Marcos Robledo.

As for the MICE segment, representatives of important companies dedicated to the Groups and Conventions market, such as BTC Americas, Helms Briscoe, Mundomex, BCD Travel, SIE Conventions, among others, attended the event.

The workshop approach was very well received by the attendees of the three events, as they were able to interact with the representatives of the Riviera Nayarit hotels and receive information in a more direct and personalized manner. The CVB held a presentation that reiterated the biosecurity protocols implemented for the pandemic, including the situation of Nayarit on the national map. The current Epidemiological Traffic Light has changed to green, which is an excellent incentive for travelers.

“These promotional actions help the Riviera Nayarit to continue its tireless efforts to engage the domestic market. The constant brand presence in the heart of the country has had excellent results. Recent statistics from the Barometer indicate that Mexico City and surrounding cities are among the main destinations that send tourists to this region,” said Marc Murphy, managing director of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Banderas Bay Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB).

MORE INFO:

It is important to remember that Mexico City, Toluca, and Puebla are home to more than 40% of the country’s population. This is a coveted market for any tourist destination, especially a beach resort, and the Riviera Nayarit is no exception. For this reason, the destination is taking advantage of this excellent business opportunity, especially now that vacationers who usually travel abroad are not doing so due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Daily flights by Aeroméxico, Aeromar, Volaris, and Viva Aerobús have already stabilized air connectivity.

The Riviera Nayarit is a safe destination. Our hotels, restaurants, and tourist establishments follow all the health protocols established by the Federal Government’s Ministry of Health and operate at the allowed capacities. Access to the beaches is limited. Be a responsible tourist: wear your mask and keep your distance.

We’re ready!
