There are 7 Can’t-Miss Events in the Riviera Nayarit

  • Sports, gastronomy, and culture are just some of the many activities travelers will be able enjoy in Mexico’s Pacific Treasure.

The Riviera Nayarit will host seven top-notch events in August that will welcome local communities as well as tourists and residents.

The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) are happy to support activities such as these, which generate visitors and increase hotel occupancy.

This month’s top events include the 6th Punta Mita Beach Festival, Masters of the Kitchen, the 2018 Nayarit National Children and Teen’s Surfing Championship, and the Dolphin Congress.

6th Punta Mita Beach Festival (August 4-5)
Now in its sixth year, the Punta Mita Beach Festival promises new and better experiences from August 4-5, 2018 at the Kupuri Beach Club in Punta Mita. This family event encompasses the best of sports, gastronomy, and luxury with activities that include snorkel, diving, stand up paddle, yoga, windsurf, kayaks, outrigger canoes, and kitesurf, which are appropriate for all levels and abilities. Sayulita Pee Wee Surfing League (August 4-5)
Nayarit’s Surfing Capital is hosting this circuit for minors from August 4ththrough 5th. The league encourages new talent in this sport, which has generated top competitors on a national level.

Corn Festival (Feria del Elote) (August 6-15)
This traditional celebration held in the communities of Jala and Xalisco includes all kinds of events including dances, shows, horse races, and cock fights. The original celebration revolved around Our Lady of the Assumption; in Jala they give a prize for the largest ear of corn.

Masters of the Kitchen (August 7-10)
The Masters of the Kitchen Culinary Festival at Villa La Estancia Beach Resort & Spa has joined the list of the different culinary events in the Riviera Nayarit, highlighting once again how fabulous a vacation can be in Mexico’s destination.

2018 Nayarit National Children and Teen’s Surfing Championship (August 8-12)
The Riviera Nayarit is preparing to receive young surfing talents for the 2018 Nayarit National Children and Teen’s Surfing Championship to be held August 8-12 in the Magical Town of Sayulita. This championship is also the national pre-selection shortboard event for the upcoming 2018 Junior World Championship within the male and female divisions in the Sub 18, Sub 16, Sub 14, and Sub 12 categories. More information:
Dolphin Program Congress (August 15-18)
The Riviera Nayarit is the preferred destination for the academic scientific community to host the XXIII National Summer Conference for Scientific and Technological Research in the Pacific, a derivative of the Pacific Inter-Institutional Program for the Strengthening of Research and Graduate Programs, also known as the Dolphin Program.
From August 15th through the 22nd, the RIU hotels in Flamingos—an area of Nuevo Vallarta—will host cultural, sports, and artistic activities, complementing the academic portion.

San Blas Pee Wee Surfing League (August 26)
It’s time for San Blas to welcome this itinerant competition that makes stops in different coastal villages in Nayarit searching for newest talents in surfing.
The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) continue to work together to market the region, strengthening its promotion and helping position Mexico’s Pacific Treasure on the world map with the support of the Government of the State of Nayarit via the Tourism Promotion Trust (Fiprotur).
