The Riviera Nayarit takes home a Gold Stevie® Award
- The Riviera Nayarit CVB won the “Communications / Public Relations Campaign of the Year” award and was selected from more than 3,700 nominations worldwide.
The Riviera Nayarit won a Gold Stevie® Award—the most important business award in the world—, in the category of Communication / Public Relations Campaign of the year in Travel & Tourism for successfully maintaining its positioning during one of the worst pandemics to hit the global tourism industry.
The jury considered the outstanding work accomplished by the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), chosen from among more than 3,700 nominations submitted by organizations in 65 countries.
The strategy included daily media monitoring in top industry and consumer outlets, including TravelPulse, Travel Age West, Travel Weekly, CNN Travel, Condé Nast Traveler, Skift, and more, to identify potential opportunities to position the Riviera Nayarit. Priority was also given to content creation and media relations through targeted presentations, coordination of interviews with key spokespersons by phone and/or Zoom, and individual press trips to the destination when it is safe to travel.
Collectively, work done from April through December 2020 generated coverage in key consumer and retail outlets resulting in 205 clips totaling more than 3.7 million impressions and more than $1.2 million in ROI.
Inspiring travel
Marc Murphy, managing director of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau, said that, even amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the Riviera Nayarit implemented creative ways to generate brand awareness and inspire future travel while highlighting safety.
“We are extremely proud of receiving the Stevie® Award. This prestigious award is a great recognition of our promotional, public relations, and communications work,” he said.
The judges’ comments were also very gratifying:
“When the entire tourism industry came to a screeching halt in March 2020, the Riviera Nayarit CVB and its public relations agency quickly made a shift in their media strategy to continue to build brand awareness and inspire future travel while addressing the evolving pandemic.”
