Riviera Nayarit awaits the year of travel

RIVIERA NAYARIT, NAYARIT, MEXICO (November 12, 2020) – As many signs point to a travel rebound in 2021, Riviera Nayarit gears up to welcome back travelers with exciting new offerings, increased airline connectivity, outdoor experiences and more. As Mexico’s emerging beach destination that offers 200 miles of pristine pacific coastline, magical pueblos, natural sanctuaries, and luxurious resort hotel accommodations, below are the top reasons why travelers should opt for a relaxing, yet safe, getaway to Mexico’s treasure coast in 2021.

“We expect 2021 to be the year of travel after so many were homebound and missed venturing out, especially internationally, in 2020,” said Marc Murphy, managing director for the Riviera Nayarit CVB. “With an increase in hotel capacity limits, added airline connectivity, new hotel openings, and safety measures in place, we are prepared to welcome back travelers to Riviera Nayarit.”

  1. New Hotel Openings: Riviera Nayarit expanded its roster of hotels in the region with the Sept. 1st opening of the 324-suite Conrad Punta de Mita, which is the Conrad brand’s first ever resort in Mexico, and the second Conrad brand property in the country. On November 1st, the highly anticipated One & Only Mandarina debuted with 104 villas and 54 Private Homes. It is among the first to have One & Only residences in the world and will later include a world-class Mandarina Polo and Equestrian Club. In November 2021, Auberge Resorts Collection will open the ultra-luxurious 59-suite property Susurros del Corazon in Punta de Mita, while the 415-room Dreams Punta de Mita Resort & Spa and 200-room Secrets Punta de Mita Resort & Spa are also slated to open their doors in the second quarter of the year. The first ever all-inclusive Delta by Marriott resort will also be arriving to Riviera Nayarit in 2021, reflagging and completely transforming the previous Grand Matlali Hills Resort & Spa resort located on the hillside in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.
  2. Socially Distant Experiences & Animal Encounters: With miles of uncrowded beaches and a lush countryside to enjoy the fresh air, Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit is an ideal destination for social distancing. From mountain biking through the lush jungle and surfing the beautiful beaches or enjoying a private birdwatching tour to observe a variety of beautiful species, especially from October through March, Mexico’s Pacific Coast has numerous options to enjoy activities comfortably and within a safe distance from others. Among one of the most impressive experiences takes place from December to March, when visitors can take a private tour to see the impressive whales as they migrate through the waters of the Riviera Nayarit between Tecuala and Banderas Bay to feed, mate or give birth. Another way to reconnect with nature in Riviera Nayarit is camping at the uninhabited Isla Isabel National Park. Accessible by boat from the coast of San Blas, the nature preserve on Isla Isabel (Isabel Island) offers activities such as snorkeling, fishing, hiking, bird-watching and more. For the active travelers, the International Sailing Academy, based in the town of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle will be offering a variety of private sailing lessons across different levels for children, teens, and adults.

Extended Stays & Private Accommodations: For those who want to lengthen their visit next year, the destination has several accommodations to choose from.  At The Four Seasons Punta Mita, guests can check in at one of the property’s private residences, complete with airport transportation and a grocery credit (for stays of seven or more nights).Residences range from three to five bedrooms, with full kitchens and private pools. Another noteworthy option is Imanta, a chic boutique resort that has three-bedroom villas with private pools, as well as an array of sumptuous suites tucked individually into the hills along the shore, creating a blissfully isolated paradise (one reason why celebrities love staying here). Travelers can book their own private villa at the recently debuted One&Only Mandarina that has a collection of 104 free-standing villas and treehouses. Mar al Cielo is another excellent private retreat set on 11 acres of beachfront jungle paradise, perfect for two dreaming of an enchanting vacation.
