Riviera Nayarit Tour In California Reaches Over 200 Travel Agents
- Promotional activities took place from April 23-26 in Los Angeles, Newport Beach (Orange County), San Diego, and San Francisco—four of the cities with the most direct flights to the area.
Over 200 travel agents were updated on the latest tourism offer in the Riviera Nayarit during a promotional tour from April 23-26. The team made stops in Los Angeles, Newport Beach (Orange County), San Diego, and San Francisco—four of the cities with the most direct flights to the region.
The tour was organized by the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) together with the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust and with the support of the Mexico Tourism Board (MTB) in Los Angeles.
Hotels and business partners participated as well, offering travel agents as much information as possible, including updates on both destinations that have been promoting themselves jointly as a single region for over five years. The average occupancy for the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta is 67% throughout the year, with peaks of over 90% during the summer and winter seasons.
The state of California is a key tourism market for the region, as it has the most direct flights to the “Gustavo Díaz Ordaz” International Airport from the cities above, as well as Oakland, via eight airlines . These include Alaska Airlines (San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego); American Airlines (Los Angeles); Delta Airlines (Los Angeles); Interjet (Los Angeles); United Airlines (San Francisco); Southwest (Los Angeles, Oakland, San Diego); Volaris (Los Angeles); and Aeroméxico (connecting via Mexico City), all of which participated in the tour, promoting their flights.
The wholesalers also had a strong showing, as they’re an essential part of the destination’s success in the US market thanks to their commitment to marketing the Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit region. Apple Vacations, All About Tours, Delta Vacations, Funjet Vacations, Gogo Worldwide Vacations, Pleasant Holidays and Vacations for Less were among the participating agencies.
Just as important was the participation of 21 destination hotels, eight of them from the Riviera Nayarit including Paradise Village, Occidental Nuevo Vallarta, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, Dreams Villamagna, Villa del Palmar Flamingos, Villa La Estancia, Palladium and Iberostar Playa Mita.
Of note was the presence of Jorge Gamboa Patrón, Director of the MTB office in Los Angeles, who has also been a great supporter of events in California for both Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit.
The facts:
California is the main state of origin for visitors from the United States to the Riviera Nayarit; as of March 2018, a full 27% of tourists arrived from there.
