Riviera Nayarit Tours The Midwest United States

Eighty reservations executives from wholesaler Apple Vacations—a very important partner for the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta—were trained in Chicago.

  • Over 200 travel agents received the latest updates from the Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit area thanks to the Road Shows that toured three cities in the Midwest.

The Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit joint tour traveled through the Midwest region of the United States to promote the region. The objective was to publicize the ample tourism offer the destinations have for the vacation market during the Fall-Winter seasons.

The cities on the schedule were Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Chicago, Illinois, and St. Louis, Missouri. Representatives from the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, together with the Hotel and Motel Associations from both destinations, toured these destinations using the Road Show format to update and train over 200 US travel agents.

There was a total of 15 hotels from both destinations on the tour, as well as an average of five wholesalers in each city.

These promotional actions took place because of the importance of this Midwest region of the United States, which is the source of the largest influx of visitors towards both destinations during the winter season.

Eighty reservations executives from wholesaler Apple Vacations—a very important partner for the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta—were trained in Chicago, along with the participation of 10 hotels.

There was a total of 15 hotels from both destinations on the tour, as well as an average of five wholesalers in each city.

“The participation of the Riviera Nayarit CVB and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association in these Road Shows is due in large part to the fact that we need to continue strengthening our presence in such important markets as Chicago, St. Louis, and Milwaukee, as well as maintain our relationship with a prime partner such as Apple Vacations, which gives us the edge for a very successful winter season,” said Marc Murphy, director of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB).

It’s important to point out the Windy City is the third city of origin for air passengers to the Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport, with some 30 weekly flights during the season via the seats offered on American Airlines, Frontier, and United. As for St. Louis, in 2016 it was the 22nd market of origin for the destination, both through Apple Vacations’ charter flights and particularly American Airlines connectivity via Dallas, as well as other airlines.

The constant promotion of the Riviera Nayarit that takes place on a national and international level has yielded results, thanks to the joint efforts not only of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association, but also of the business sector and the community at large, which work to offer a pleasant stay for all our visitors. This is possible thanks to the support of the Government of the State of Nayarit via the Tourism Promotion Trust (Fiprotur).
