Riviera Nayarit Exceeds Expectations During Mundo Golf Tour

  • The players, who were exceedingly pleased, praised the challenges of Mexico’s newest golf course as well as the destination’s excellent infrastructure and Vidanta’s unparalleled service.

The organizers and winners of the tournament were visibly happy and more than content with the destination, Vidanta and the new Greg Norman-designed golf course during the awards ceremony for the last stop of the 2016/2017 Mundo Golf Tour in the Riviera Nayarit.

“Everything was perfect,” said Hiram Castillo, creator and organizer of the Mundo Golf Tour. “There were 144 players, it was full up, and I think it was a success. These prestigious facilities were made for the event; everyone was very pleased and left with a favorable impression of the tournament. I think we’re here to stay in the Riviera Nayarit, at least that’s the plan; I believe we’ll be here for another three or four years and want to return here for the finale.”

On a tournament level the winners were Juan Manuel Gonzalez, Martín Lawers, Javier Machado and Rubén Martínez from Aguascalientes; the team also took third place in this last segment of the tour.

“We’re very happy with the organization, the Riviera Nayarit is gorgeous, the facilities are spectacular, the golf course is incredible,” said Rubén Martínez, a player with over 20 years’ experience. “There are no cons, and the pros include the beautiful scenery and the difficult, but still fun for everyone, greens that are a Greg Norman signature.”

With the Riviera Nayarit as host, the first place winner was the Puerto Vallarta team, made up of Víctor Ramírez, Carlos Ramírez, Alejandro Ríos and Juan Pablo Stone.

“As always, the tournament was very fun, the course was very hard, the awards were very good, the company was very amenable and overall it was excellent,” said Víctor Ramírez. “This is the second time we participate and if the tournament returns we will do so as well.”

The awards ceremony was hosted by Vania Manzano, who is a frequent visitor to the destination—in fact, just a week ago she covered the Wind Festival on behalf of TV Azteca by invitation of the Public Relations office of the Riviera Nayarit CVB. Vania says she’s in love with the destination and will return for a little rest and relaxation within the next few days.
