82.5% Occupancy Rate In The Riviera Nayarit In The First Semester Of 2015

  • This year marked an 11.1% increase in occupancy over the same time period in 2014; the preliminary data secured in the month of June indicates there were 1,077,783 visitors; occupancy this summer is expected to reach 98%.

After the final surveys and analyses of the period of time encompassing January through June 2015, the official barometer of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau indicates the hotel occupancy rate in the Destination during the first semester was 82.5%.

“The continual training sessions with travel agents and meeting planners plus the Public Relations, Marketing and Promotional strategies keep bearing fruit, although the best motive for the increase in occupancy has definitely been word of mouth,” commented Marc Murphy, Managing Director for the Riviera Nayarit CVB.”

As for motivation behind the vacation, 33.7% of tourists are returning visitors to the Destination, while 23.7% visited the Riviera Nayarit by recommendation of friend or family; 14.1% arrived via travel agencies or wholesalers; 10% were people who have memberships and 9.8% arrived inspired by advertising.

The 82.5% occupancy level in general in the Destination during the first semester of 2015 represents an 11.1% increase over the occupancy rate in 2014, when it was 74.3%.

Occupancy rate for this summer is expected to reach 98%. One of the main reasons for this estimate is the fact the Riviera Nayarit is among the Top 5 luxury destinations in Mexico.

The categoría especial (Five Diamond equivalent) properties reported an 84% occupancy rate in 2015 versus 75% in 2014, which represents a significant 9% increase in a segment with high purchasing power.

The tourism influx category is the only one with preliminary statistics in the month of June; it indicates 1,077,783 tourists visited the Destination.
