2nd National APEN All Stars Championship Held At The Riviera Nayarit

  • One of the three most important cheerleading competitions in Mexico will be held at the Hard Rock Hotel Puerto Vallarta with the participation of over 600 athletes and 1,500 spectators.

Among the many different events that are held in Mexico’s Pacific Treasure is the 2nd National APEN All Stars Riviera Nayarit Championship this March 8-9, a national competition that will showcase the best cheerleaders in Mexico.

The Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta will host the more than 600 cheerleaders and approximately 1,500 spectators, who will enjoy the presentations of the athletes that will represent Mexico in the upcoming world competitions.

This according to Armando Cárdenas, president of the Cheerleading Association of the State of Nayarit (APEN by its acronym in Spanish).

“We are endorsed by Varsity, a very important institution in the United States,” commented Cárdenas. “Whoever wins this national championship will qualify for International events outside the country such as the Henares World Championship and the University World Championship, to name just a couple.”

Participants include schools, clubs and public institutions that have official cheerleaders and have previously won a regional, state or national competition. The protocols include Dance and Acrobatic and the categories divided by elementary, middle school, high school and university.

“Sure there are other championships, but there’s no doubt that the facilities, the beauty of the Riviera Nayarit and the level of competition here make it one of the best in the country. The Colima Owls emerged from last year’s tournament and they went on to become the world champions in the elementary category,” declared the APEN president.

This championship boasts professional judges with international credentials. It is an amateur-collegiate competition endorsed by different certifications and attended by states including Sinaloa, Jalisco, Colima and Nayarit, among others.

“It means a lot to us,” said Armando Cárdenas. “What better place to hold this competition than our marvelous Riviera Nayarit. It’s quite an honor and that’s not even counting the economic benefits to the region. It’s really an honor to celebrate this event in this destination. What’s most important is to showcase our great state.”

Once the competition is over there will be national level awards handed out to the best in show.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau of the Riviera Nayarit is happy to invite both locals and tourists to come enjoy this artistic sporting event.
