4th New Southwest Airlines Flight Arrives From Los Angeles

  • In less than two years Southwest Airlines has inaugurated new direct flights from Orange County, Denver, Houston and Los Angeles to Puerto Vallarta – Riviera Nayarit, with plans for one more from Oakland scheduled for February 2017.

What Southwest Airlines announced last June finally came to fruition last Sunday December 4, 2016, with the first daily direct flight from Los Angeles to the Lic. Díaz Ordaz International Airport, which benefits Puerto Vallarta – Riviera Nayarit.

“We trust this market—this first flight had 125 passengers meaning it’s pretty full, and we also have flights from Orange County, Denver and Houston,” said Brad Hawkins, lead spokesperson for Southwest Airlines. “We want to be a part of the Mexican community of Puerto Vallarta and Nayarit.”

The plane will make nonstop daily flights between Los Angeles and Puerto Vallarta – Riviera Nayarit with capacity for up to 143 travelers.

In less than two years expectations for airlift to the region have been surpassed thanks to the joint promotional activities between Nayarit and Jalisco, a very successful formula that has triggered a marked upsurge in tourism. The future bodes very well, as Southwest Airlines executives seek only to continue to increase airlift.

The fifth Southwest Airlines direct flight to the region is set to take off February 12, 2017 from Oakland in the San Francisco Bay area of California. This is a seasonal flight that will continue through April 24, 2017.

Southwest Airlines is the biggest airline in the United States, with four thousand daily flights and a fleet of 700 planes. Its success is due to low fares and a high quality of services.
