Joint Promotional Tour Hits Canada

  • Over 1,200 Canadian travel agents were updated during the Sunwing Vacations and Westjet Vacations events; the team also participated in the events celebrating the 150thanniversary of Canada’s independence.

The Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit Joint Promotional Campaign undertook a series of intense activities in different Canadian cities and provinces during the last week in April and the first week in May 2017.

Canadian wholesaler Sunwing Vacations’ trade shows took place on April 25-26 in Hamilton and Toronto, both cities in the Ontario province, where over 500 travel agents showed up to receive updates on the company’s new offerings as well as news from the participating destinations.

Sunwing Vacations is a wholesaler with a very strong presence in this region of the Pacific, as it owns its own aircraft. According to information offered by its main office, its fleet grew from 12 to 24 planes over the past five years.

The 2017 Westjet Vacations Travel Expo took place May 1-3 in Calgary and Edmonton in the province of Alberta, as well as in Vancouver, British Colombia, where there were an estimated 700 travel agents present to receive the latest information on the tourism services offered by this airline and wholesaler.

The Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta offered attendees all the information needed to help them sell the region to their city’s clientele. Of note is the fact that Westjet has experienced tremendous growth in this area as well as in other parts of Mexico: its fleet is considered the second largest in Canada just behind Air Canada, the country’s legacy airline.

Last but not least, the Embassy of Mexico in Canada, the Mexican Secretariat of Tourism and the Mexico Tourism Board in Montreal organized Experience Mexico events in the capital city of Ottawa from May 5-7 to help celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada’s independence.

During the events, 11 regions of Mexico—among them Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit—offered an ample showcase of the area’s tourism, culinary, cultural and entertainment options to the thousands of visitors who attended.
