The Mexican Embassy in Chile recently launched a special micro-site, Viva México in Chile, as part of their virtual celebration of the 210th anniversary of Mexico’s Independence.
Among other aspects of the Mexican culture, the site also offers readers the chance to click on a separate segment dedicated to tourism promotion, where they showcase the Riviera Nayarit as the “Destination of the Year” with several access points that share promotional material.

The embassy also held a photography contest related to this destination and Mexico’s Independence Day celebrations. Participants were asked to upload images to their social networks (Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter) pretending to be in the Riviera Nayarit celebrating Independence Day. The winners received a round trip for two and complimentary stays at some of the sponsoring hotels.
Meanwhile, Diario El Mercurio published a special edition dedicated to Mexico where they analyzed how bilateral relations between it and Chile have been distinguished by cooperation and understanding over the past 30 years.
The site also includes a video of singer Lila Downs accompanied by the Alejandro Díaz orchestra and the Compañía de Danza Costumbrista dance troupe at the Macedonio de Alcalá Theater in Oaxaca, among other activities.
Luis Gerardo Regalado Ruiz de Chávez, in charge of Tourism Promotion at the Mexican Embassy in Chile, expressed his satisfaction with this initiative.
“Thank you for all your support, we will do everything possible to make it a profitable initiative for the Riviera Nayarit and the tourism promotion of Mexico,” he said.
