Here Are The Riviera Nayarit’s Winners On Mexico’s List Of 100 “Musts”
- There were a grand total of 21 winners from the Destination along with sister brands from Nayarit distributed among seven of the eight nominee categories as classified by Sectur.
The Mexican Secretariat of Tourism (Sectur by its acronym in Spanish) recently sponsored a contest to find Mexico’s 100 “Musts,” which consisted in nominating and voting for the best the country has to offer. The Riviera Nayarit is on this prestigious list with several wins to its name.
According to the official website, “A ‘must’ is not simply a recommendation, it’s a reminder to preserve the best our country has to offer.”
“Even though the Riviera Nayarit is a very young destination compared to Mexico’s historical destinations it has slowly but surely made a name for itself on the national and an international tourism stages,” said Fernando González Ortega, President of the Riviera Nayarit Hotel and Motel Association. “This type of recognition voted on by the people is a clear indicator that we are top of mind for tourists and this motivates us to keep going for more.”
There were 21 winners from the Destination along with sister brands from Nayarit and a shared winner with Puerto Vallarta. They’re distributed among seven of the eight categories that Sectur created for the nominees. Read on for the list of winners:
Moments and Events: Sayulita Festival, Wind Festival, Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf, International Gourmet Festival and the Nayarit Fair.
Attractions: Islas Marietas, Humpback Whale Sightings and Vallarta Adventures.
Hotels and Resorts: Imanta Resorts Punta de Mita, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit and Casa de Mita.
Food, Beverage and Ingredients: Pescado Zarandeado, Shrimp Balls (Taxtihuile) and Stuffed Shrimp.
Entertainment: Splash of Glass, Bucerías Art Walks and Canopy Zip Lining.
Gastronomy: Nicksan Nuevo Vallarta, Tuna Blanca By Café Des Artistes, The River Café Sayulita.
Historical Sites: Nayarit Regional Museum and the Santa María del Oro Lagoon.
