The Riviera Nayarit reinforces its presence in the Canadian market

The Joint Promotional Tour visited Montreal, Quebec, and Toronto, where the team trained more than 200 travel agents and sales agents on the destination’s tourist product.

The Riviera Nayarit’s promotional efforts continue unabated with a keen eye on the upcoming winter season. Representatives from the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust (Fidetur) visited three cities in eastern Canada from October 7-10: Montreal and Quebec in the province of Quebec, and Toronto in the province of Ontario.

The team trained over 150 travel agents during four days of intense work, updating them on what’s new in the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta, together with wholesalers such as Sunwing, Air Transat, WestJet Vacations, Travel Brands, and Aeroméxico.

Besides their destination presentations in each of the aforementioned cities, the team also visited the AirTransat reservations center in Montreal to update 64 travel agents.

Francisco Cerro, representative for the CVB, noted that the Riviera Nayarit is the trendy place to visit in Mexico, thanks in part to its fantastic sunsets and gorgeous beaches. From the exclusive Punta de Mita—home to luxury hotels like the Four Seasons Resort and The St. Regis as well as exclusive villas—to the charming village of Sayulita, ideal for surfers and vacationers, this region is satisfying a growing demand.

Cerro also pointed out the increase in investment from international hotel chains, which are poised to open 15 new properties over the next few years, including five hotels from the Marriott International group. These new hotels will add significantly to the current offer of 15,000 rooms.
When considering their promotional work in Canada, Marc Murphy—managing director of the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) and the Riviera Nayarit CVB—mentioned the country is one of the Riviera Nayarit’s most important markets. Canadian tourists are known for their lengthy stays over the winter and Canada has been one of the most prolific markets for the region in the past few years.

“We continue gaining traction in the Canadian market and we’re looking to maintain the preference they’ve shown towards our destination,” he added.
