The Riviera Nayarit strengthens its presence in South America with the “2019 Southern Cone” Tour
- The Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit Joint Promotional Tour visited Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador to share the latest tourism updates from both destinations with over 300 agents from top travel wholesalers.
Over 300 travel agents from Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia; Lima, Peru; and Quito and Guayaquil in Ecuador enjoyed firsthand updates from the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta during the Joint “2019 Southern Cone Tour.”
The tour took place August 12, 13, 15, and 16, during which time representatives from the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust (Fidetur) held seminars and training luncheons, workshops, and presentations accompanied hotel executives from both destinations. Also present: Copa, Interjet, and Aeroméxico airlines.
The ample participation of wholesale agencies from the cities mentioned earlier was remarkable. The agencies offered attractive airline packages (including hotels from the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta) to attendees at each event, helping to boost the excellent connectivity with each of the airports.
Participating wholesalers included: Tropical Tours, Orbis, Universal Tours, and Freeway, from the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra; Vidatur Solways, CTM, Rumbo Reps, Destinos Mundiales, and CIC Travel from Lima; Multitravel, Blue Sky, GT, Golden Vacations, Sol y Luna, and Rep Viajes from Quito; plus HDP, Multi Travel, Golden Vacations, and Rep Viajes from Guayaquil.
Of note were the personalities present at some of the events. These included the Mexican Ambassador to Peru, Víctor Hugo Morales, along with counselor Cristina Ruiz. In Quito, Cultural Attaché Ricardo Pérez Maciel—also charged with tourism duties in the Mexican Embassy in Ecuador—welcomed attendees with a message on behalf of Ambassador Raquel Serur.

Among the invitees were professionals from the Product, Sales, and Marketing offices, as well as owner and managing director, Jerónimo Vaqueiro.
It’s important to highlight the coverage from top media from Lima, incuding Diario Correo; El Comercio; Ladevi; Revista Cocktail; Turista Magazine; Notiviajeros; Rumbos; Turismo 360; Portal de Turismo; Hotel Perú News; Place Ok; La Cueva de Domínguez; Turiweb; JC Magazine; Enterados; Mercado Empresarial; Prensarte; andBusiness Empresarial.
“The Riviera Nayarit CVB continues to work hard to capture markets beyond North America with these promotional activities,” said Marc Murphy, managing director of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB). “Our constant brand presence in South America has yielded excellent results: our most recent statistics have indicated an increase in the number of tourists from the Southern Cone to our region.”
