The Riviera Nayarit showcases its luxury and natural attractions in Panama
- It was an intense week of promotion for Mexico’s Pacific Treasure and its hotels with Panamanian travel agents and wholesalers.
The Riviera Nayarit showcased its luxury and natural attractions in Panama during an intense week of promotions led by the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) and the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) together with the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust (Fidetur).
There were three promotional events held from May 21-25 where the team met with meeting planners and wholesale travel agents, as well as participating in Expo Turismo Panama, an event focused on the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) segment, travel agents, and the general public.
All the activities were done jointly with Puerto Vallarta and with the participation of several hotels from both destinations, including the Decameron, Hard Rock, Occidental Nuevo Vallarta, and Riu from the Riviera Nayarit.
The promotional events began on Tuesday, May 21st, with a presentation for 75 travel agents and wholesalers, followed by a meeting with 40 meeting planners who were duly updated on the Riviera Nayarit’s tourism offer. Representatives from the Decameron, Hard Rock, and the Occidental Nuevo Vallarta were present for this activity.
Afterwards, the team visited seven of the most important wholesalers in Panama, among them Allegro Tours, Fidanque, Lubel, Marsal, Margo Tours, Universal, and Xplora. Of note is the fact these wholesalers are already selling tour packages to Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit.
The team also hosted a private dinner with top executives from Copa Airlines and Copa Vacations: Christopher Didier, Copa Airlines VP Sales; Jennifer Cattan, Marketing Director for Copa Vacations; and Carlos Antunes, Regional Sales Manager for the Mercosur, among others.
Expo Turismo Panama
Afterwards, Expo Turismo Panama was held May 24-25, where representatives from the Riviera Nayarit CVB and Puerto Vallarta’s Fidetur held 14 business meetings with meeting planners from countries such as Germany, Argentina, China, Costa Rica, Spain, the United States, Romania, and Sweden. The meeting planners were introduced to the great variety of natural and tourism attractions as well as the regional infrastructure for the organization of conventions, groups, and incentive travel. The first day of the trade show was dedicated to the MICE market; the second to travel agencies and the general public. Over three thousand people were in attendance.
These actions are performed with the support and backing of Copa Airlines, a commercial ally in the Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit region. The airline began the Panama-PVR route on December 16, 2018, with two weekly frequencies (Thursdays and Sundays). This flight offers a connection that opens a wide window of opportunity to welcome travelers from Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.
