Bucerías is preparing to host the 1st Taste of Bucerías: Flavors of the Bay on December 8th on the main plaza of this traditional village in the Riviera Nayarit. The Bahía de Banderas Rotary Club organized the event to benefit its vision campaign, Ayúdame a verte (“Help me to see you”).
The event will include the participation of the Riviera Nayarit Restaurant Association and the Bahía de Banderas City Council, backed by the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB), via the Bahía de Banderas Tourism Zone Promotional Trust.
Miguel Angel Mateos, owner of Bucerías’ Miguel Angel restaurant and member of the organizing committee, stated the event will be 100 percent family friendly and is geared towards getting the word out on the culinary traditions of the region and presenting them to residents and tourists, as well as funding a noble cause.
For his part, Jorge Guevara, President of the Bahía de Banderas Rotary Club, commented that all the moneys raised from the sale of the food would go towards the entity’s visual health programs, which covers the donation of glasses and basic treatment with specialists to more severe cases including cataract surgery.
“The program has been pretty successful,” he added. “Last year we were able to perform 24 cataract surgeries and this year we hope to surpass that number.”
