5th Taste of Nuevo Vallarta And 17th Nuevo Vallarta Chili Cook-Off
- It’s an open invitation to come enjoy the best chili in the region at an event with a cause taking place on Saturday, December 9th at the Marina Nuevo Vallarta in the Riviera Nayarit.
The boardwalk at the Marina Nuevo Vallarta, in the Riviera Nayarit, will host the 5th Taste of Nuevo Vallarta and the 17th Chili Cook-off on Saturday, December 9th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event is organized by the Vallarta Yacht Club (VYC), with the support of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB).
As happens every year there will be a great variety of “samples” offered by some of the best restaurants in Nuevo Vallarta and its environs, and, of course, the fabulous chili created by professionals and amateurs who will compete to see who cooks the best. Participation can be individual, in groups or by restaurant.
Rudy Trejo, Manager of the Vallarta Yacht Club, noted the dynamic is quite simple: attendees can buy tickets for the tasting for only $20 pesos, which they can then exchange for food or beverage.
The profits are earmarked for charities and will be divided equally between the Cleft Palate Program from the International Friendship Club and Toys for Tots from the Vallarta Naval League. All participating and competing restaurants are donating their time and food to this great cause.
Parking is available at the Marina Nuevo Vallarta and there will also be a water taxi coming in from the Vallarta Yacht Club and Paradise Village.
“Last year we had over 30 stands, we hope for more this year,” commented Rudy Trejo. “This is one of the first opportunities of the season to show off your restaurant to hundreds of tourists and local residents.”

Every year the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) lends its support to more than 80 events of all kinds alongside the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB), with the support of the Government of the State of Nayarit through its Tourism Promotion Trust (Fiprotur). These events markedly increase the number of visitors that benefit the entire regional platform of tourism services.
