The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau Marketing Department has launched different promotions, contests, and content and viralization strategies as means to different ends; one of these is to generate organic traffic and followers. In other words, the idea is for the actions to be natural and independent of those triggered by boosted posts or promotional campaigns.
The most recent case in point was the #RivieraNayaritExtremo contest, which was reinforced by a flurry of Facebook posts highlighting the adventure and ecotourism activities in the region. A Twitter Party using the same hashtag, which in fact positioned the destination in third place in Trending Topics in Mexico that day, further supported the contest. The contest was also widely circulated via the different digital platforms run by the Riviera Nayarit CVB.
These activities took place in March, generating 2,627 new “Likes” on the destination’s Facebook page. The promotion via other social media accounts including Twitter and Instagram added up to 3,843,792 impressions, not to mention a reach of 9,371 unique readers through newsletters targeted to consumers and travel agents.
According to Marc Murphy, General Director for the Riviera Nayarit CVB: “The objective of these strategies is to attract true potential travelers, not ‘bots’ that merely increase the number of fans and followers; we’re looking for real people who are genuinely interested in the destination, who want to come visit or wish to return for a second time. We want them to become the organic brand ambassadors for the Riviera Nayarit.”
And the winner of the #RivieraNayaritExtremo contest is…
Irving Yáñez Padilla, a citizen of Ciudad Nezahualcoyot in the Estado de México, was the grand prize winner of the #RivieraNayaritExtremo contest and will enjoy four days and three nights for two at the Occidental Grand Hotel, along with several adventure and ecotourism activities sponsored by Vallarta Adventures, Luna Azul Surf School and Vista Paraíso.
