The Riviera Nayarit’s Tourism Recuperation Continues Full Steam Ahead
- This statement was confirmed by the 8% increase in revenue for the destination, the 17% increase in the arrival of tourists to the region via air and the 4.4% growth in hotel occupation in the Riviera Nayarit; the efforts of the Riviera Nayarit CVB’s departments were fruitful in 2014.
The comparisons between the annual results for 2013 with those of 2014 indicate the tourism recovery is in full swing. The actions that were taken via the different departments of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau are showing a definite upward trend in productivity in their numbers.
In 2014, the revenue for the Riviera Nayarit was US$1,827,378,706, exceeding by 8% the US$1,684,626,492 generated in 2013; hotel occupancy increased by 4.4%, growing from 65.67% in 2013 to 70.11% in 2014; the Vallarta-Nayarit International Airport reported an increase of 17% in tourists visiting both destinations.
The Riviera Nayarit CVB with productive results in 2014
The Public Relations team in 2014 assisted 390 domestic and international media via 48 press trips, six press conferences, six tours, 23 film location scoutings and seven photo shoots. This represented nearly two billion impressions in the media.
There were 91 events stemming from the Sales and Promotions Department including 31 seminars with training tours in agencies, 32 attendances in fairs and trade shows, 24 travel agent FAM trips and four webinars. A total of 10,601 agents received training and information was handed out to five thousand consumers at events.
The 39 advertising campaigns developed through the Marketing Department achieved over 560 million impressions in America and Europe. The e-marketing campaigns generated an increase in online sales of 18% in 2014 over those of 2013. All the social media platforms for the destination evinced notable growth in the number of fans and followers.
There were a total of 45 events coordinated at the destination, which generated the attendance of nearly 40 thousand people; there were 16 meetings and conventions held with over eight thousand attendees. At last count, the Meetings and Events department generated more than $150 million pesos in revenue.
Other areas such as Product Research and Development and Administration have provided key support in areas including environmental care, business meetings, coordination between the three branches of government and civil society, training workshops, programs and other involvement.
