XXIII Banderas Bay International Regatta
- The largest and most established regatta on the west coast of Mexico is ready to take off from March 3-7 at the Vallarta Yacht Club in Nuevo Vallarta.
The Riviera Nayarit is ready to host the XXIII Banderas Bay International Regatta, an event where the mostly North American boats will race through the waters of Mexico’s Pacific Treasure and where their crews can come together to enjoy a few days of camaraderie and fun.
Known as the oldest regatta on the west coast of Mexico and one of the largest in the world, this competition will bring the best sailors from around the globe to the Vallarta Yacht Club (VYC) in Nuevo Vallarta from March 3-7, 2015.
This will be an intense encounter but participants will also have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the music, cuisine and excellent ambiance of the Riviera Nayarit. The different categories encompass boats of all sizes, with an emphasis on the larger watercraft. There are currently 30 vessels registered, as of print time.
“The idea is to mix four days of fun with three days of competition on the bay, considered one of the best sailing destinations in the world,” commented Richard Williams, Rear Commodore for the Vallarta Yacht Club.
As with all the events organized by the VYC, this one seeks to encourage sailing among the younger set. On this occasion, the beneficiaries of the VYC’s youth sailing program will be able to accompany the participating boats to add to their experience on the water.
Cost of registration is one thousand pesos per vessel and includes two tickets for the awards banquet that will be held at the Hotel Paradise Village Nuevo Vallarta. If you’re interested in participating please call (322) 297-2222 or write to office@vallartayachtclub.org.
