3rd Annual Motomanía San Blas

  • From November 27th through the 30th over 1,000 motorcycles will take part in this event endorsed by the Federación Mexicana de Motociclismo, making it among the top 40 most important events in the country and the 2nd with the highest overall attendance.

The Historic Port of San Blas will host the third edition of the Motomanía San Blas from November 27th through the 30th. This event has positioned San Blas as the top Biker Port in the Pacific and it has become one of the 40 most important events of its kind in the country, endorsed by the Federación Mexicana de Motociclismo.

The yearly increase of participants has been noticeable. In 2012 there were over 600 motorcycles; this year there will be over 1,000 motorcyclists riding in from over 10 states: San Luis Potosí, Jalisco, Distrito Federal and Nuevo Leon, just to mention a few. This is why today it’s the second event with the highest attendance in the country.

Román Paz Mondragón, President of the Ovejas Negras Moto Club and lead organizer of the event, mentioned that the end purpose of the event is to promote and create awareness of San Blas with motorcycle enthusiasts on a domestic level.

The welcome party takes place on Thursday so riders can relax after their long voyages; the esplanade along the dock (to one side of the ex-customs building) will be set up for camping with free WiFi. It’s also the location of Friday’s exhibits and music concerts.

The beach party starts on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at El Borrego beach; afterwards attendants can take souvenir photos at La Contaduría at 6 p.m. The evening’s events come to a close on the main plaza courtesy of Jalisco’s Acrobatic Squadron.

The activities end with drag races on the runway. During the event visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of activities that will engage the local economy, including walks, tours and restaurant and commerce recommendations.

“We’ like to thank the Riviera Nayarit CVB, because without their help we wouldn’t have been able to hold the event; their support was key to the entire event,” commented Paz Mondragón.

The event has certainly gained more prestige and importance over the years, especially in terms of organization and security. Thanks to its membership with the Federación Mexicana de Motociclismo, the participants are insured with respect to road accidents and the like.
