South America Embraces Vallarta-Nayarit

  • The joint campaign’s grand South American Road Show toured Argentina, Chile and Peru, training, updating and informing over 500 travel agents, reservations agents and the media in those three countries.

Argentina, Chile and Peru welcomed the Vallarta-Nayarit joint campaign with open arms during the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta convention and visitors bureaus visit to South America, accompanied by the Mexico Tourism Board (MTB).

During the 10-day visit the team strengthened its presence in South America, updating and informing over 500 travel agents, reservations agents and the media in all three countries.

From September 15-19, 180 agents were trained in the cities of Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Rosario in Argentina. Another 25 reservations agents and 8 operators were also trained, all of which are helping to promote the destination.

The visit to Argentina concluded with a press conference and face-to-face interviews with 25 different influential media in order to promote the product, explain how the joint campaign works and why the destination has such huge possibilities for the Argentine market.

The tour visited Chile and Peru from September 22-25, with the following results: 22 reservations agents and 80 travel agents were trained in Chile; in Peru, 30 reservations agents and 110 travel agents attended the event. There were press conferences held in both countries as well in order to update the local media.

This Road Show was headed by Marc Murphy, the Managing Director of the Riviera Nayarit CVB; Rolando Miravete, the director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust; María Alatriste Carrillo, Regional Director of the MTB for Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia and Uruguay; and Omar Macedo, Adjunct Director for the Pacific Alliance in Chile, Peru and Colombia.

The event included the always important presence of hotel representatives from the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta, including Marival Group, Iberostar Playa Mita, Hard Rock Hotel, Royal Decameron, Velas Resorts, Canto del Sol, Crown Paradise, Sheraton, Barceló, Melia, Belair and Am Resorts.
