¡BUCERÍAS!

This is the first village you’ll encounter as you pass by Nuevo Vallarta and Flamingos; though it’s less than seven miles from the Puerto Vallarta International Airport, it’s eons away from the worldly hustle and bustle. This picturesque town on the Pacific Coast offers a relaxed bohemian atmosphere wrapped in the vivid colors of Mother Nature. The luxury of Bucerías is found in the warmth of its people; they are remarkable for their hospitality and their innate kindness, which makes for an exceptional experience.

The word “Bucerías” means “lugar de buzos,” or  “place of the divers.” Its white sand beach and gentle waves extend along five miles of coastline, making it an ideal escape for families to enjoy the gentle rhythm of the day. Relax on the sand, swing in a hammock, get active on a boogie board and slide along on the waves or relax in a kayak or a sailboat—the choice is yours.

As with the rest of the Riviera Nayarit, the culinary scene couldn’t be better. From the famous “pescado zarandeado” (grilled fish) to the traditional ceviche prepared in more ways than one, as well as fresh shrimp, octopus and lobster, it all paves the way for very happy diners.

Should you visit in January, don’t miss the traditional religious festival of the Virgin of the Peace and the colorful procession of local craft as they bob along the water, not to mention the fireworks and they typical Mexican dishes.

Bucerías is great for walking, and you’ll find shops selling everything from Huichol arts and crafts to handmade sweets and other souvenirs. There’s something for everyone: if you prefer art, you’ll find it in the Bucerías Art Walk Plaza. Just ask the locals; they’ll show you the way!

If you come to Nuevo Vallarta or Flamingos, don’t miss the opportunity to relax your body and soul in a unique spot, and let the easy nature of the residents and the magic of Bucerías sweep you away.
