The culinary festival Vallarta-Nayarit Gastronómica will take place October 17-20 and will revolve around the topic of “Sustainable Gastronomy and Tourism: a Treasure for Both Destinations.” This event will bring together the culinary world’s best chefs, sommeliers, mixologists and speakers; you’ll taste everything from the most traditional dishes to the most sophisticated; you’ll learn about culinary tendencies in Mexico and the world; and enjoy water tastings that will surprise you in more ways than one, not to mention the more traditional tequila and wine tastings, plus tasty beer pairings. You’ll see culinary business models explained from their conception, through their operation and human resources, all the way to their export outside the country. The event will cover exotic topics like “Edible Insects” and the “Versatility of the Nopal Cactus,” as well as “The Crops of Nayarit: From Farm to Table” plus a mano a mano between the ceviches of Peru and Nayarit you won’t want to miss.

Another “can’t miss” event includes a tapascompetition among talented culinary students who will vie for top awards in “Best Traditional Spanish Tapa” and “Best Tapa Using Mexican Ingredients.”

Among the many talented presenters and participants in this magnificent Festival will be Ramón Dios from Madrid, Spain; Roberto Chávez from Peru; Puerto Vallarta’s Alfonso Cadena; Betty Vazquez from San Blas Nayarit; and Mónica Beteta, Deborah Uribe and Fernando Ruiz de Chávez Cuevas from México City.
