With an investment of 21.26 million dollars by the federal government in Fonatur CIPs this year, as well as new developments that are being built not only in Nuevo Vallarta but throughout Riviera Nayarit, our destination ranked first in Mexico with regards to tourism investments in first quarter of 2013.
Riviera Nayarit, a destination spanning over 180 miles of the Mexican Pacific coast, continues to attract major investments with the over 10 touristic projects currently under construction. The national and international appeal of the destination attracts hotel groups that contribute to the growth of the destination in terms of tourism, and that also provide a privileged leadership position in occupancy rates during recent years.
As recently reported in the DATATUR Statistics System, which is part of the Ministry of Tourism, from 2011 to date, Nuevo Vallarta in Riviera Nayarit is the beach destination reporting the largest infrastructure expansion in Mexico.
Based on the average number of available rooms, there has been an estimated 26.9% growth in Nuevo Vallarta from 2011 until May 2013. From the 5,988 rooms available in 2011, the number has already risen to 7,597.
With regards to occupancy rates, Nuevo Vallarta is also leading the national list according to data provided by DATATUR. From an average of 2,659 booked rooms in 2011, this destination in Riviera Nayarit registered a 53.7% increase, averaging 4,087 booked rooms. Cancun (37.9%) and Rosarito Beach (24.2%) follow in the rankings.
The Convention and Visitors Bureau of Riviera Nayarit believes that these new investments are also the result of intensive touristic promotion being made since the launch of the brand, which has enabled the destination to promote and position our destination within the preferences of domestic and international travelers.
“The efforts to promote Riviera Nayarit will continue, and we’ll reveal the new alternatives and offers that this growth in hotel infrastructure will bring to the destination and to those who visit. One factor that undoubtedly also motivates investment in the state is the number of prestigious international events that take place here, such as sport fishing tournaments, the Mexico Cup Regatta, the Tianguis Turistico 2012, food festivals, golf tournaments, cultural and artistic events, among others, that enable us to expose the multifaceted range of destinations available for all visitors in Riviera Nayarit”, stated Marc Murphy, Managing Director of the CVB of Riviera Nayarit.

While a stunning area, be aware of the allure of the Nahui project. It is embroiling in grievances from clients/investors for non performance of construction of both the Tau resort and the condos. Many posts on FB and TripAdvisor under the labels of Tau, Nahui, C&C Capital and Hector Cardenas
