Riviera Nayarit supports convention-based tourism

In Riviera Nayarit luxury is our nature, and this nature keeps attracting important events to our destination, like the National Convention of the Cámara Nacional del Autotransporte de Carga  (Canacar), which took place on September 19 – 22 at the Hard Rock Hotel in our destination, or the International Tourism Congress organized by the Asociación Mexicana de Profesionistas y Técnicos en Turismo AC (AMPYTTAC), between September 27 and 30 at Marival Resort & Suites.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau of Riviera Nayarit has defined the events and conventions segment as a priority to the promotion for our destination, as we realize that this segments contributes directly to selling hotel nights and also becomes a word of mouth publicity asset as participants, who are usually opinion leaders, return home and share their experience in Riviera Nayarit, therefore attracting new visitors.
From January to July 2012, the CVB supported this type of events in order to bring a total of 1,730 visitors, who generated an economic downpour of 1.5 million pesos. Additionally, the CVB participated in three different fairs dedicated to promoting meeting and convention-based tourism. A total of 1,180 participants attended these events and learned about the competitive advantages of our destination.
Canacar’s National Convention focused on designing new strategies to continue promoting the touristic industry, bringing together 340 entrepreneurs.

Additionally, during the National Tourism Conference, approximately 400 students from leading universities in the country are attending digital marketing and new technologies conferences focused on the tourism and gastronomy industries
