Playa Frideras: A hidden treasure in the Riviera Nayarit

The Riviera Nayarit is paradise on earth, filled with natural treasures all along its 23 micro-destinations. Some are world famous—think Playa del Amor. Others, though, are still under the radar, including Playa Frideras, one of the destination’s most spectacular beaches. Need to know how to get there and what to do? Read on!

Playa Frideras in the Riviera Nayarit is just 15 minutes from Rincón de Guayabitos, tucked between the spectacular Cerro del Toro (the peak that’s home to the Mirador del Toro lookout) and Playa Los Ayala. It’s super easy to get here and it’s an adventure you won’t want to miss. Besides: you’re going to love it here!

How to get to Playa Frideras in the Riviera Nayarit

There are two easy ways to get to Playa Frideras from Los Ayala. The first is on foot (in other words, for free): you’ll have to walk about 300 meters (10 minutes), but keep in mind that you’ll be taking a hike over the mountain. The second option, whether you’re in Rincón de Guayabitos or Los Ayala, is to pay for a motorboat ride and save the trek for another day.

What can you do in Playa Frideras?

The waves are super chill, making it a great beach for families. You can snorkel, water ski, hop on a banana boat, or just enjoy a great getaway far from the hustle and bustle. Besides, the local food is a must: you’ll find plenty of vendors selling shrimp kabobs, cocadas (coconut candy), fresh coconuts, and more.

You won’t get lost

Playa Frideras is the starting point for a hike up the Cerro del Toro to a lookout with a spectacular view of the entire coastline. Be prepared to spot birds, manta rays, dolphins, and whales. You really don’t want to miss checking out this amazing place and taking some killer pics.
