Riviera Nayarit strengthens its air connectivity with CDMX via Aeromar
- Starting on June 13th the new route will create a direct connection between the PVR/Riviera Nayarit area with Mexico City via four weekly flights and one extra frequency in July and August.
With an eye on the upcoming summer season, Aeromar inaugurated its new CDMX-Puerto Vallarta/Riviera Nayarit with four weekly flights (Thursday through Sunday) throughout June, with an extra frequency added in July and August (Sundays) for a total of five trips.
The ATR 72-600 plane with 63 passengers landed at the Lic. Gustavo Díaz Ordaz on 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 13th, where it received the traditional inaugural “shower.” This airport serves Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit.
Afterward, the passengers and crew received a warm welcome on behalf of the Jalisco and Nayarit tourism authorities, led by Marc Murphy, managing director of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and his counterpart at the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust (Fidetur), Javier Aranda Pedrero. The welcome included mariachi music, traditional regional beverages, and souvenirs for each of the passengers, all courtesy of the Riviera Nayarit CVB and Fidetur Puerto Vallarta.
Strengthen Connectivity
The objective of this new Aeromar route is to strengthen connectivity between Mexico City and the best beaches in the country by offering more travel options to their passengers, said Juan Ignacio Rosello, the airline’s commercial director, during the flight’s reception held on Thursday afternoon at the Lic. Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport.
“We began flying to this region three years ago,” he added. “We started with the Guadalajara flight, and today we’re proud to be offering our first direct flight from Mexico City.”
He said this is thanks to the support of the local, municipal, and state authorities, but above all, to the passengers who have put their trust in the airline and who have taken this opportunity for regional connectivity.
“We need to remember that the ATR flies a little lower than other, larger planes; we’re talking about 20 thousand feet, so being able to see the scenery is so spectacular, to see the beach just before you land,” he reiterated. “That is to say: the experience begins before you get to the city. It’s what we mean by ‘The flying experience.”

For his part, Marc Murphy, director of the Riviera Nayarit CVB, was delighted with this new route as Mexico City is one of the top domestic markets for this tourism destination just behind Jalisco and Guanajuato. Every year marks an increase in the number of tourists arriving from the nation’s capital.
“Our promotional efforts are reinforced with this new flight and those to come. The actions we take to attract new flights or increase airline frequencies take time, but the results are noticeable. It all goes hand in hand: if we promote the destinations together, the flights would continue to arrive.”
THE DETAILS
The new flights will be made aboard an ATR 72-600 aircraft with capacity for 72 passengers. The airplane was manufactured in France and is the latest thing that exists today in regional aviation.
There will be four weekly flights in June (from Thursday through Sunday) and during high season in July and August, there will be an additional route on Sundays, for a total of five weekly flights.
