The Riviera Nayarit welcomed the 28th Imacop Tourism Convention

  • The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau joined the convention with a destination presentation and partook in the trade show with hotels from this coastal region.
  • The event was organized by wholesaler Imacop Tour Corporation and brought in 450 travel agents from different states around Mexico.

The Riviera Nayarit hosted the 28th Imacop Tourist Convention on May 20 and 21, which welcomed more than 450 travel agents from different states in Mexico to the Paradise Village Hotel. The event’s purpose was to update agents on the destination and the latest hotels, services, and experiences.

The convention was initially programmed to be virtual. However, given the destination’s favorable conditions regarding the Covid-19 pandemic and the hotel biosafety protocols implemented in the region (including both the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta), it was possible to hold the event in person.

Wholesale travel operator and meeting organizer Imacop Tour Corporation stated that its main objective was to update travel agents with information on the tourist destination they are visiting, the local hotels, and the new technologies implemented by the company to help with sales. The latter is especially relevant now that pandemic conditions do not allow them to see their clients in person at their travel agencies.

450 travel agents updated

A total of 450 travel agents attended the 28th Tourism Convention, all of them from the Mexican states in which the wholesaler has sales offices, including Aguascalientes, Estado de México, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nuevo León, Puebla, Querétaro, and San Luis Potosí. The event also included a trade show attended by more than 20 hotel representatives from both destinations, who presented special tourist packages created for the occasion to encourage sales through Imacop.

The Riviera Nayarit hotels that participated in the trade show included: Villa Varadero, Paradise Village (venue of the event), Hard Rock Vallarta, Marival Group, AM Resorts (including Dreams Villamagna and the soon-to-be-opened Dreams Bahía Mita and Secrets Bahía Mita hotels), Riu Hotels, Samba Vallarta, B Nayar, Grand Matlali Hills, and Grand Palladium Vallarta.

It is worth mentioning that at every event, Imacop acknowledges participating hotels, as well as host destinations, for their support in making sure the event runs smoothly.

Riviera Nayarit-Imacop Alliance

During the event, the Riviera Nayarit responded in kind by thanking the tour operator for its hard work throughout the pandemic. The destination presented an award to the wholesaler’s representatives, Leonardo Padilla, regional director for the Bajío-Monterrey area, and Héctor Mireles, director of the Guadalajara office on behalf of its managing director, Rodolfo Camarena López.  He also shared the great news that their 2020 sales surpassed the 2019 figures, despite the health crisis.

Marc Murphy, managing director of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), said that this gathering continued to strengthen the destination’s image with Imacop. Imacop is a leading operator in Western Mexico with solid ties to the best tourism service providers.

Murphy underscored the significance of the event, given that more than 60% of the domestic travelers who visit the Riviera Nayarit during the holidays book through the travel agencies that are part of this wholesaler.

“We believe it’s important for travel agents to come every year so they can receive updates and experience first-hand all that the Riviera Nayarit has to offer. They need to enjoy its natural attractions, explore the hotels, and live the experiences as if they were tourists—that way, they’ll be able to sell our destination better,” he said.

The Riviera Nayarit is a safe destination. Our hotels, restaurants, and tourist establishments follow all the health protocols established by the Federal Government’s Ministry of Health and operate at the allowed capacities. Access to the beaches is limited. Be a responsible tourist: wear your mask and keep your distance.

We’re ready!
