6 Reasons to visit the Riviera Nayarit this winter
- With it perfect climate, luxurious resorts, spectacular landscapes, and stunning beaches, the Riviera Nayarit has it all!
You really shouldn’t miss out on the Winter Season in Mexico’s Pacific Treasure. Close your eyes and imagine the warmth of the sun on your skin and the sound of the waves while you wiggle your toes in the sand… This—and more—is what you can expect to enjoy on your next visit to paradise.
It’s the perfect season for relaxation and reflection
The Riviera Nayarit is in a privileged spot surrounded by green mountains and gorgeous beaches. But apart from its natural attractions, it’s also a place to relieve your stress and fatigue in any of its many world-class relaxation centers. Allow yourself to be pampered with a massage or a beauty treatment—our expert therapists will whisk you away to a world of serenity and renewal for a holistic wellbeing experience. There are many options, and it won’t be easy to pick just one, as they each have their own specialties: some offer yoga and meditation classes, while others specialize in weight loss, exercise, and full-body detox.
The days are sunny, but cool
The Riviera Nayarit owes much of its charm to the excellent climate that dominates the destination for most of the year. Though the summertime might feel warm for some—the average temperature is 32˚C (89.6˚F)—in wintertime the temperature doesn’t exceed 20˚C (68˚F), with very cool mornings and evenings. The conditions are generally excellent for a day at the beach, without the sticky feeling that pervades the summer months. As if that weren’t enough, tanning yourself during this season will increase your stores of vitamin D and serotonin, which can only benefit your immunological system, recharge your energy, and help you stay alert and motivated until spring officially arrives.
Because it’s whale season!
Winter also kicks off whale-watching season, an experience that every traveler must have at least once in their lifetime. In the Riviera Nayarit we’re very fortunate, as every year come the end of November these spectacular creatures arrive from the frozen waters of the Northern reaches to the warmth of Banderas Bay (one of their favorite spots for mating and having their young), though their presence has extended all along the coast of Nayarit. In this state you can view the whales in the municipalities of Bahía de Banderas (on the bay of the same name), Compostela (Rincón de Guayabitos-Peñita Jaltemba-Chacala), and San Blas (San Blas and Isla Isabel).
Hotels with the most advanced biosecurity protocols
Nowadays, tourists who wish to travel and stay in luxury hotels choose Latin America as their first option, which makes the Riviera Nayarit very popular for its high-quality services. But in addition to their customary offerings, the hotels in this tourist destination also receive their guests with the most advanced safety and hygiene protocols; it’s not for nothing that last year the destination received the Travel Safety Stamp, awarded by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) to destinations that comply with the hygiene protocols for dealing with the COVID-19 in their tourist establishments.
For its open-air activities
The Riviera Nayarit is one of the best places in the world to get your dose of nature and fun at the same time. There are tons of things to do outside, including sailing, surfing, kitesurfing, golfing, and fishing, not to mention birdwatching—besides plenty of endemic species, every year sees the arrival of a great number of migratory birds to micro-destinations such as San Blas and San Pancho. The most experienced swimmers and divers can observe the rich array of marine life such as turtles, whale sharks, and colorful fish. It is also possible to go hiking on Monkey Mountain (Cerro del Mono), mountain biking in the Sierra de Vallejo, horseback riding through the jungle or on the beach, or hop on a zipline for a rush of adrenaline.
Experience golf at the highest level
Golf vacations in Riviera Nayarit have become increasingly popular among novice and professional golfers around the world, and you won’t find a better place to improve your shots and practice your game! The golfing experience is of the highest level, not only thanks to the excellence of its eight courses designed by outstanding figures such as Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Jim Lipe, Robert Von Hagge & Baril, and Percy Clifford, but also because of the magnificent mountain, tropical forest, and beach landscapes so beloved by golfers. Most of the courses are PGA category (the main North American circuit of professional golf for men) and offer the highest level of services.
The Riviera Nayarit is a safe destination. Hotels, restaurants, and tourist establishments are following all the health protocols established by the Federal Government’s Ministry of Health and operating at the allowed capacities. Access to the beaches is limited. Be a responsible tourist: wear your mask and keep your distance.
