The Riviera Nayarit participates in the most important international golf travel trade show in Europe
- Mexico’s Pacific Treasure has established itself as one of the top golf destinations in Mexico, offering the best venues and most renowned tournaments.
The Riviera Nayarit CVB participated in the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM), an itinerant trade show specialized in golf tourism travel. Held from October 21 to 23, this year’s event was virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although the event originally focused on the European market, it has increasingly become international—every year the organizers choose a different golf destination as the venue, except this year when it was held online.
The IGTM was designed for golf destinations, resorts, and courses to showcase their products to highly qualified golf tour operators via a sophisticated appointment system.
Polo Sanchez-Valle from the European Promotion Office represented the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau; he held meetings with 24 tour operators from the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Holland, and India. “Several of them have a very interesting potential,” he said.
Riviera Nayarit, a golf destination
The IGTM was an excellent forum to present the Riviera Nayarit’s offer and the quality of its infrastructure, not only regarding hotels, but its industry as a whole, including the entertainment centers, marinas, and in this particular case, the golf courses.
The destination offers a premium experience, not only because of its excellent courses designed by outstanding names such as Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Jim Lipe, Robert Von Hagge & Baril and Percy Clifford, but also thanks to the magnificent mountains, tropical forests, and beach landscapes that appeal the players.
Currently, there are eight world-class courses available to golfers: El Tigre, Flamingos, Litibu, Campo Nayar, Norman Signature Course and The Lakes at Vidanta Golf; and Punta Mita Bahia and Punta Mita Pacifico, in addition to two small 9-hole courses, Las Huertas de San Pancho and Campo de Ensueño Club de Golf.
Most of the courses are part of the PGA—the main North American circuit for men’s professional golf—and offer premium services.
