The Riviera Nayarit incentivizes the domestic market with the 2020 Bajío Tour
- The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau directs its promotional efforts towards its fellow citizens with an eye on reactivating tourism to the region.
Over 200 travel agents and tour operators were updated on the latest news from the Riviera Nayarit during the Second Promotional Tour through the Bajío, Central, and Western parts of the country during an effort to reactivate sales to the destination for the upcoming winter season.
The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau continues to focus its promotional efforts on the national market with an eye on the economic reactivation of the region after the health crisis ushered in by the Covid-19 pandemic.
From October 12-16 the Promotional Tour traveled through five top cities in the aforementioned regions: Morelia, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, and León. These are natural markets for the Riviera Nayarit and generate a little more than 34% of domestic visitors.
Representatives from the CVB and the Banderas Bay Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) spearheaded the effort, together with sales executives from associated hotels and wholesale agents.
Travel Agent Training
A lunch-workshop was held in each city during which hoteliers and wholesalers updated the participating retail agents. The team presented new sales strategies, as well as information on the hotels’ safety measures according to the protocols established by the Federal Ministry of Health. A workshop was also held at the start of every event where each exhibitor presented relevant information about their business.
Participating associated hotels included Paradise Village, Hard Rock Vallarta, Grupo Marival, Krystal Grand, Royal Decameron Complex and their three properties in Guayabitos, B Nayar, Grand Matlali Hills, Iberostar Playa Mita, and One & Only Mandarina.
Participating wholesalers included Imacop Tour, La Operadora.com, System Tour, Naturleon, Record Vacation, Grupo FVP, and Viajo México. Their representatives offered an ample explanation of their offer that allowed for more direct contact and better diffusion of the information. Volaris, with an office in León, shared information on the connectivity available between the Bajío and this region.
A total of 200 retail agents received training as follows:
Morelia
Monday, October 12 | 40 travel agents and 5 wholesalers.
Querétaro
Tuesday, October 13 | 40 travel agents and 5 wholesalers.
San Luis Potosí
Wednesday, October | 40 travel agents and 6 wholesalers.
Aguascalientes
Thursday, October 15 | 40 travel agents and 6 wholesalers.
León
Friday, October 16 | 40 travel agents and 7 wholesalers.
Of note is the fact there were immediate results for the participating hotels, including the One & Only Mandarina—even though it has yet to open its doors, they have already received requests for quotes for future stays.
