The Riviera Nayarit will be home to the first Delta by Marriott All-Inclusive property

  • Marriott International announced the transformation of the current Grand Matlali Hills Resort & Spa in compliance with a new all-inclusive concept

The Riviera Nayarit is renewing its tourist offer with the transformation of the 117-room Grand Matlali Hills Resort & Spa, which by 2021 will become the All-Inclusive Delta by Marriott, the first Marriott International hotel with this branding anywhere in the world.

The biggest luxury hotel chain in the world—it boasts 30 brands and more than 7,000 hotels in 131 countries and territories—announced it had signed an agreement that includes the transformation of the Grand Matlali Hills Resort & Spa, as well as an expansion to 300 rooms by 2023.

At the time of the announcement, Laurent de Kousemaeker, Chief Development Officer, Caribbean and Latin America for Marriott International, said the Delta Hotels by Marriott brand extension standards are now ready and they are perfectly suited for conversions of full service resorts.

“We are excited to work with PB Puerto Bahía Residence, S.A. de C.V., to convert this property into the first all-inclusive Mariott hotel globally and bring the Delta all-inclusive concept to our region.”

La propiedad de 117 habitaciones está destinada a proporcionar una nueva y emocionante opción de alojamiento una vez que se convierta en Delta by Marriott.

Of note is the fact the company has a strong portfolio of conversion-friendly brands such as the Autograph Collection, The Luxury Collection, and Delta, which offers a flexible full-service conversion platform.

Marc Murphy, managing director of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau, shared his enthusiasm for the arrival of new investments to this tourist destination. In the case of Marriott International, he stated, the transformation of Grand Matlali Hills Resort & Spa will add to the destination’s offerings, as already done by properties such as The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort and W Punta de Mita, as well as the upcoming NIA development, with four premium all-inclusive hotels, with openings planned for 2023.

Finally, Armando Véjar, CEO of PB Puerto Bahía Residence, S.A. de C.V., commented that by bringing this new concept and brand to Riviera Nayarit they hope to elevate the offering for visitors and attract a new segment of guests to the destination.

“We are excited to sign a Delta Hotels by Marriott all-inclusive resort and work with Marriott International to manage the property.”
