New investments consolidate the Riviera Nayarit’s standing among luxury destinations in Mexico
- With 18 tourism projects on the way, Mexico’s Pacific Treasure is positioned among the top spots for attracting both foreign and domestic hotel investment.
The Riviera Nayarit continues to generate significant investments with 18 tourism projects underway and a new resort opening at the end of 2019. This positions the destination within the top spots nationwide in attracting tourism investment—nearly $3 billion’s worth.
This big investment includes resources from the federal government via Fonatur’s Master Planned Developments (MPD), as well as new developments under construction from Nuevo Vallarta to Punta de Mita and in the municipality of Compostela.
“Mexico’s Pacific Treasure is attracting more and more international hotel groups that contribute to its growth in terms of its tourism offer; we’re glad that investors and developers have the confidence in us to bring in these new premium tourism projects,” said Jesús Carmona, president of the Banderas Bay Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) and the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB).
He added: “The destination had a very successful 2019 and welcomed more than 2.7 million visitors; Mexico was the main country of origin, followed by the United States, Canada, England, and South America.”
“We see this tendency towards growth continuing into 2020. Several well-known hotel brands are ready to present their new properties in the destination, and others are scheduling openings within the next 5 years,” said the hotel association present.
