The Riviera Nayarit markets itself to more than two thousand US travel agents

  • The CVB and associated hotels participated in two important international wholesale travel events sponsored by Apple Leisure Group and Delta Vacations: the ALG Ascend Conference and Delta University.

From September 17th through the 22nd, the Riviera Nayarit participated in Apple Leisure Group and Delta Vacations’ top events in the US: The Ascend Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Delta University, held in Detroit, Michigan. Both events gathered together over 2,000 of North America’s top travel agents.

The ALG Ascend Conference (formerly the TMTC Summit before its fusion with Apple Vacations) was held with over 500 of the top-selling travel agencies. They participated in a series of activities including destination presentations, conferences, networking, and the traditional tradeshow with providers from around the globe.

The second event, Delta University, was organized by Delta Vacations and this year welcomed more than 1,500 travel agents over the course of two days. What’s interesting about this event is that, as its name indicates, the agents attended different classes and presentations offered by participating destinations and hotels. In this case, there were four “classes” held for more than 130 professionals, who were updated with the latest news about our tourism product.

The traditional tradeshow was held after the presentations, during which agents were able to take home promotional material from the exhibitors.

The Riviera Nayarit was a standout thanks to the participation of the destination’s Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and representatives of associated hotels including: Dreams Villamagna, Hard Rock, Grand Velas, Grupo Marival, Occidental Nuevo Vallarta, Paradise Village, Hoteles Riu, Samba Vallarta, Iberostar Playa Mita, Villa del Palmar Flamingos, and Villa La Estancia.

“The Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association and the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau help to boost the arrival of North American tourists for the upcoming winter season with this and other promotional activities,” said Marc Murphy, managing director of both entities. “These actions benefit the entire region’s tourist sector.”

The connectivity on Delta Airlines to the Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit region is excellent thanks to direct flights from Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and Atlanta throughout the year and additional flights from Detroit and Seattle during high season. This ensures high occupancy levels in the hotels that participate in the Delta Vacations program in both destinations.
