CONOCER Certifies AHMBB Top Executives, Managers, And Chief Security Officers
- They awarded 21 managerial level Certificates of Competency for the Coordination of Surveillance Services of People and Goods.
A total of twenty-one top executives, managers, and chief security officers from the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) satisfactorily completed the evaluation processes to receive CONOCER’s Certificate of Competency for the Coordination of Surveillance Services of People and Goods.
This is part of the commitment the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) has with its members, in coordination with the office of Member Services and Tourism Development Programs of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) via its Safety and Human Resources committee. The goal is to strengthen and elevate the quality of services and tourism awareness within the Riviera Nayarit.
The presentation of these certificates to those in charged with hotel security took place on May 3rd at the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit during a ceremony led by Jesús Carmona Jiménez, President of the AHMBB. Also present at the event: Xavier de la Teja Pastor, Managing Director of the EXCELA Certification Body; Esteban Orosco, Vice President and Coordinator of the Bahía de Banderas Safety Committee; and Julio Barrera Zaragoza, Managing Director of the SILA Certification Body.
Speaking for the hotel union, Jesús Carmona Jiménez congratulated the group for reaching this important milestone in their personal journey, which reflects their desire for personal advancement and the honing of their skills to offer a better service to the tourist.
“The Riviera Nayarit is a growing destination, there is a lot of work and a bright future, but it’s very important that the heads of the different departments be well-trained,” said the President of the AHMBB.
Unique in the country
For his part, Xavier de la Teja Pastor, Managing Director of EXCELA Certification Body, underlined that of all the hotels that exist in Mexico, only 14 have certified security personnel, demonstrating their competency via a process of evaluation.
He stressed that out of more than 30 million Mexicans in the country’s labor force only 1,650,000 have been certified by CONOCER, that’s to say, only 5.5%.
“You fall within that million 650, that 5.5 percent of Mexicans who work and can prove their competency.”
But that’s not all, he added, because of the 1,832 certifications awarded throughout the country related to safety, the 21 awards given in the Riviera Nayarit are the only ones that were certifications in the area of Hotel Security.
The hotels that participated in this evaluation and certification process are: Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, Paradise Village, Marival Residences, Marival Resort, Rancho Banderas, Villa Group, Iberostar, Hard Rock Hotel, RIU, Palladium, Real del Mar, Vallarta Gardens, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, Vidanta and W Punta de Mita.

The continual promotion of the Riviera Nayarit both on a national and international level has yielded excellent results, thanks to the efforts not only of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association, but also of the business sector and the communities that work in tandem to offer all our visitors a very pleasant stay. This is possible thanks to the support of the Government of the State of Nayarit via the Tourism Promotion Trust (Fiprotur).
