Fonatur Strengthens Its Developments In The Riviera Nayarit
- Punta de Mita’s Litibú is experiencing a renaissance of sorts with a new service infrastructure and new events; Costa Capomo in Compostela already has basic services and a trust has been created to attract hotel investors; the Marina Fonatur in San Blas underwent maintenance to offer the best service.
The Fondo Nacional de Fomento al Turismo, or National Tourism Trust (Fonatur, by its acronym in Spanish) has three developments in the Riviera Nayarit that have served and continue to serve to strengthen tourism in the municipalities of Bahía de Banderas, Compostela and San Blas.
Fonatur’s delegate in Nayarit, Francisco José Méndez Vargas, explained in an interview with the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) how they are seeking to invigorate the two Master Planned Developments (MPDs) and the Marina that are operated by this federal department.
Beginning from south to north, the news from the Litibú Golf Course is that it already has a new clubhouse and the MDP in general has integrated events to make it more attractive.
“We always work hand-in-hand with the Riviera Nayarit CVB—we’ve programmed a small golf tournament and a triathlon here [in Litibú]. What we wanted to do was give Litibú exposure, to inject new life into it,” commented Francisco Méndez, who announced that one of the new projects set to kick off 2016 is the construction of a new beach club in Litibú.
“Fonatur adopted the median strip at the junction from Punta Mita to Higuera Blanca and you can already see how clean it is, we’ve planted some palm trees and sodded it. We’re maintaining it in pristine condition,” added Méndez Vargas.
The second stage basically begins with this median strip, which will receive more palm trees and better lighting. As far as real estate is concerned, several lots have already been rezoned to accommodate market demand.
Meanwhile, Costa Capomo has already established a trust with which they are working to promote hotel investments in this MPD within the municipality of Compostela.
“We’ve finished with the infrastructure in the first polygon at Boca de Becerros; it has roadways, lighting, water, sewers, the first stage of the water treatment plan is ready, as is the water holding tank, and we’ve already received notification that we’ve been recertified as a Clean Beach,” added the Fonatur delegate in Nayarit.
As for the Marina Fonatur in San Blas, several improvements took place earlier this year: the dock was dredged to allow for bigger ships, the gantry crane was fixed, the dry dock was rearranged and there was a revision to the pricing policy.
