The trend towards continued tourism growth displayed by the Riviera Nayarit is reflected in its indexes and stats. “We must take into consideration the very important fact of the parity of the peso versus the dollar,” commented Marc Murphy, Managing Director of the Riviera Nayarit CVB. “If we see an increase in spite of this, then it’s a sure sign we’re on the right track.”
There were $837,656,765 USD in revenue registered from January through June 2015; during this same time period the year prior, the revenue was pegged at $809,542,625 USD, that is to say, there was a registered increase of 28 million dollars.
If one compares the revenue just for the month of June 2014 versus that of 2015, we can see an increase of 11.92% for this year. High season—specifically Holy Week and Easter—generated $196,493,959 USD in revenue.
The increases in the number of visitors, occupancy, average expenditure and other aspects are the result of the diverse strategies implemented by the Riviera Nayarit CVB in collaboration with the three levels of government, private initiative and the community at large. Together, they continue to lead the way towards the Destination’s tourism recovery.
