LAS ISLITAS IN SAN BLAS

Las Islitas is located a mere 10 minutes from San Blas. It’s one of the area’s most beautiful beaches, ideal for some great R&R. The waves are consistent, the sand is a light gray color and it’s over a mile long by 18 miles wide.

It does have one (literally) tiny drawback: it’s known for the infamous jejenes, mosquitoes that swarm out every afternoon at dusk. They’re pretty hungry, so be sure you leave before then or carry plenty of mosquito repellent with you. However, that’s about as extreme as things get in Las Islitas.

What’s fun about the place are the incredible waves, perfect for surfing. They’re pretty mellow so they’re good for beginners. You’ll also find great food, like the famous pescado zarandeado (butterflied whole fish grilled over a smoky wood fire), shrimp turnovers, oyster soup, banana bread and many more seaside delicacies, as well as plenty of activities to enjoy with friends and family.

Las Islitas is ideal to get away from the rowdier beaches; here you can walk along, beachcombing at your leisure and enjoying the opportunity to socialize with the locals. They’ll share the stories and legends about the sea and the weather; it can be quite fun! Or, you can always just kick back and relax and allow yourself to be lulled into perfect serenity by this little slice of heaven known as Las Islitas.
