Dia de la Marina in Jaltemba Bay

Wonder what all those boats were doing in Jaltemba Bay yesterday afternoon?

Since 1942, an impressive military display takes place on Dia de la Marina to celebrate the nationalization of the Mexican Navy in 1917. Locally, it reaches its peak at the Port of San Blas with parades on sea and land; and at the morning parade in Puerto Vallarta with navy ships followed by tour and fishing boats flying their nautical flags.

Every year, there is also a celebration at the marina in Chacala and a boat parade in Jaltemba Bay. Over 25 boats, many decorated with balloons and filled with enthusiastic participants, took part in this year’s late afternoon boat parade which started on the south end of Rincón de Guayabitos and went around Isla Coral. There were even a few sailboats and kayakers that decided to join in the fun.
