Photos of Dia de la Marina Event in Chacala
Since 1942, an impressive military display takes place on Dia de la Marina to celebrate the nationalization of the Mexican Navy in 1917. Locally, it reaches its peak at the Fort of San Blas with parades on sea and land; and at the morning parade in Puerto Vallarta with navy ships followed by tour and fishing boats flying their nautical flags.
After speaking with the Port Captain yesterday, we learned that an event was also planned for Chacala, so we drove there this morning to partake in the activities and to have a little lunch on the beach. There were about 150 people in attendance, a Mariachi and another band performed, and there were several fishing boats and the two party boats from Los Ayala which joined in as well.
