This is open ocean, and the waves can get a little aggressive—we highly recommend heading to the southern end of the beach, where the water is calmer.

Marías is another option for something a little more traditional. Dinner can be had nearby at Ola Rica or the Cervecería San Pancho, the place to go for a sandwich or a burger paired with a cold artisanal beer. After dinner, the best digestif in town is a good mezcal at La Baba del Diablo, home of its eponymous spirits.

Local art in San Pancho ranges from street murals and the vibrant décor of the micro-destination itself to galleries and stands where you can buy hand-crafted souvenirs made by local Huichol artists.
