Discover the Mirador del Toro in the Riviera Nayarit
The Riviera Nayarit is more than just beaches: it has 23 micro-destinations that are like little treasures just waiting to be discovered. Today we’re going to talk about the Mirador del Toro, a cliffside overlook with the most amazing views ever.
How do you get to the Mirador del Toro?
The Mirador del Toro is in the northern part of the Riviera Nayarit, next to Los Ayala and about 10 minutes from the lovely Rincón de Guayabitos. From there, you’ll get a stunning view of Isla Coral, a charming natural paradise.
The hike to the Mirador del Toro is beautiful and exciting. It starts at the end of the beach (to your left) and has just a few hills and dips. The best part is that you get to walk by the virgin beaches of Frideras and Frideritas. Don’t worry about not knowing where you’re going: there are plenty of signs to show you the way.
How long is the hike to Mirador del Toro?
The tour is very relaxing, very lush, and shaded by tall palm trees. It’s an easy 50-minute trek, and we recommend it for the entire family. Keep an eye out for animals—we saw some coatis and birds along the way. We’d also like to remind you to respect our local flora and fauna, as this is home to many natural species.
Towards the end of the hike, you’ll see a sign indicating the paths to the overlook and the shore. We recommend heading to the viewpoint first and then going down to the beach with the same name: Playa del Toro.
Be careful when stepping on the rocks at the viewpoint. Also: you’re going to want to wear tennis shoes, comfortable clothing, and take plenty of water. Remember your cellphone so you can take lots of selfies!
Don’t forget to stop at the Playa del Toro!
The Playa del Toro is one of the Riviera Nayarit’s hidden gems. Its water is crystal clear, the sand is, and there are no waves, plus it’s surrounded by swaying palm trees that help keep the temperature just perfect. Swimming here is delightful, and it’s usually not crowded at all. You can reach the beach by boat or by making the hike we mentioned above. Drop us a comment below if you’ve already been there!
