The Riviera Nayarit incentivizes travelers from South America with promotional events in Chile
- The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau is highly focused on promoting the destination’s tourist offer in South America’s top markets.
Representatives of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust (Fidetur) visited Chile as part of their focus on promoting the region within South America’s top markets. These actions were motivated by Copa Vacations and their pool of wholesale tour operators.
The promotional events began on Monday the 14th at Santiago de Chile’s Tour Mundial offices, where the team held two seminars highlighting Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit’s tourist offer for 12 of their reservations and sales executives.
That same afternoon, Copa Vacations and its pool of wholesalers—comprised of Euroandino, Caribbean Chile, Panamericana Turismo, and Tour Mundial—offered a welcome cocktail for the participating destinations (Riviera Nayarit, Puerto Vallarta, and Guadalajara) as well as special guests and travel agents. Luis Gerardo Regalado Ruíz de Chávez, head of the Tourism Promotion Office of the Mexican embassy in Chile, was also present.
Promotional plan
The work schedule continued on Tuesday, October 15th with several different activities, starting with an important meeting between the CVB and Fidetur with lead executives for four agencies from Copa Vacations’ wholesaler pool. During the meeting the attendees analyzed different strategies to effectively promote both destinations within the Chilean market.
That day the team also held a presentation lunch for 30 travel agents from the above-mentioned wholesalers, as well as representatives from AM Resorts, Decameron, and Grupo Velas. In the afternoon, the team met with meeting planners to promote both destinations’ MICE segment; that evening they sponsored a dinner with head executives from Copa Vacations and its wholesalers, along with five managers from the top-producing agencies.
The four wholesalers as well as personnel from Copa Airlines are expected to assist the next Gala 2020 Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit event so the companies can directly propose commercial exchanges with hotels from both destinations more.
The promotional caravan continued from October 16th through the 17th in Viña del Mar and Concepción with seminars in each of these cities. Sixty experienced travel agents from Chile attended the events from agencies including Turismo Esquerré, Cocha, and Turismo Dorado, as well as several Virtuoso offices.
“The Riviera Nayarit continues to work on capturing markets beyond North America with promotional events such as these,” said Jesús Carmona, president of the Banderas Bay Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) and the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). “Our continuous brand presence in South America has yielded excellent results: the recent statistics indicate an increase in the number of tourists from that region to Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit.”
