The Riviera Nayarit takes home Silver and Gold at the HSMAI Adrian Awards 2020
- These awards are considered the “Oscars” of the Advertising, Public Relations, and Marketing segments within the hospitality industry.
The Riviera Nayarit took home two awards, one Silver and one Gold, during the 63rd edition of the annual Adrian Awards, the largest and most prestigious travel, advertising, and public relations competition in the world, created by the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association (HSMAI).
The awards given to the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) via Newlink Group—its North American Communications and Public Relations agency—were derived from two articles inspired by Mexico’s Pacific Treasure.
The winners were announced during the HSMAI Adrian Awards Gala, celebrated January 21st in New York, a must for the hospitality industry: there were nearly 1,000 marketing, travel, and tourism executives in attendance.
“The Adrian Awards honor innovative travel marketing campaigns that lead the future of hospitality marketing, setting the standard for creativity, and flawless execution,” said Robert A. Gilbert, CHME, CHBA, president and CEO of HSMAI. “HSMAI is proud to recognize these winners and celebrate their remarkable campaigns and the people behind them.”

The Gold HSMAI Adrian Award was received for an article published on Bloomberg Pursuits online portal titled “Riviera Nayarit Primed to Be the Next Big ‘It’ Destination.”

The Silver HSMAI Adrian Award was received for Bloomberg television’s “Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit Aims to Be Next Great Beach Resort Destination.”
It’s important to mention the article that won the award was inspired by an interview done by Nicki Ekstein, based in New York, with the Riviera Nayarit’s Public Relations manager in August 2018. After publication, the Bloomberg editor was interviewed by Bloomberg TV, resulting in the spot that won the silver award.
With these two new awards the Riviera Nayarit has a total of 15 HSMAI Adrian Awards obtained over the course of 12 years: four gold, five silver, and six bronze—all in the Public Relations category.
Jesús Carmona Jiménez, president of the Banderas Bay Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) and the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), had this to say about the award:
“There’s no doubt that receiving important recognitions such as the HSMAI Adrian speaks very highly of the work done by the Riviera Nayarit CVB and its director, Marc Murphy, as well as his professional team; the work is complemented by the Riviera Nayarit’s natural attractions, tourist offer, and its Luxury and Nature, an inexhaustible source of inspiration for journalists and writers.”
