The Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) and the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) via its Human Resources Committee are hosting the 3rd Riviera Nayarit Workplace Health and Safety Week together with the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (STPS).

This is free event from May 20-25 mainly for the staff of the Bahía de Banderas’ area hotels, though the invitation is open for the general public to attend the different activities.

The 3rd Riviera Nayarit Workplace Health and Safety Week began last Monday, May 20th with a simple opening act on the grounds of the Riu Vallarta hotel, led by Rodolfo Pacheco, Coordinator of Tourism Culture for the AHMBB, together with Odilón Flores Tadeo, Assistant Security Coordinator for the Nayarit IMSS.

Rodolfo Pacheco, representative from the AHMBB, called on all the hotel workers to join in the Week’s activities, highlighting that safety and security are top priorities for the hotel companies. “This goes beyond a week—of course this is important—but I think safety is something that should be present on a daily basis for our workers.”

Finally, Odilón Flores Tadeo stated the objective of the event was to create a culture of prevention, and that the worker will take home what they learned in the course or workshop.

“On behalf of the IMSS, especially the Workplace Safety Organization, we want this to grow, we want Nayarit to no longer be at the top of the ranks for workplace risk and that all workers return home safe and sound.”
At the end of the inaugural act, the attendees participated in the “Development of Positive Attitudes and Skills” conference led by speaker, coach, and writer Arturo Enciso Hernández.
