Exploring the Riviera Nayarit: What’s the best micro-destination?

You might already know that the Riviera Nayarit comprises several micro-destinations (23, to be exact)—some are well-known, others are well-kept secrets. Join us while we take a peek at the best place to go this summer and what you’ll find once you get there. Read on!

Micro-destinations to relax and enjoy the water

All of the Riviera Nayarit’s 23 micro-destinations are great for enjoying our ocean, but some have trended higher thanks to their location. If you’re looking to chill, we recommend Bucerías, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Punta de Mita, and Chacala. These are very relaxed micro-destinations where you can meander around the streets, checking out the murals, the art, and the local and international menus at the restaurants. The beach along this section of the coastline is lovely, and the waves are calm. Chacala’s beach is nearly virgin.

Micro-destinations for partying by the water and enjoying the good vibes

The locations at the top of this list include Nuevo Vallarta, Sayulita, San Pancho, and Guayabitos. Most of the all-inclusive hotels are in Nuevo Vallarta. These resorts have activities going on day and night, so you can technically spend your entire vacation without venturing outside their facilities. Sayulita and San Pancho are ideal for lovers of the yoga and surf vibe—the streets are always poppin’, and you’ll have plenty of options for the nightlife. Guayabitos is beloved by many: its beach is a natural pool, perfect for hanging out all year round. Oh, and the seafood is delectable.

Micro-destinations for history buffs and local culture lovers

If your interests extend beyond the beach, then you must add San Blas, Mexcaltitán, and Boca de Chila to your list. These micro-destinations offer plenty of history and culture to explore. The Isla Isabel National Park is located near San Blas and is one of Mexico’s hidden treasures. Mexcaltitán is a tiny, picturesque island that charms its visitors. And in Boca de Chila, you’ll find not only some fantastic petroglyphs but some pretty incredible seafood, as well.

Have you picked out your favorite? They’re all lovely, and it’s hard for us to say which one is the best—that depends on what you’re looking for, be it nature, beach, art, culture… Or all of the above! Don’t forget to add the #RivieraNayarit hashtag to your posts—we love seeing you have fun in paradise!
