The Riviera Nayarit hosts the 1st National Tourism Forum
- Over 50 technical and polytechnical universities and more than 30 experts debate and analyze the future of tourism with the Technological University of Banderas Bay as their headquarters.
The Riviera Nayarit is hosting the First National Tourism Forum 2020 – Virtual Edition – from September 28-30, with the participation of 53 Mexican technological and polytechnical universities.
The forum is broadcasted from the Technological University of Banderas Bay (UT, by its acronym in Spanish), bringing together professors, researchers, and professionals from the tourism sector for a common purpose: to analyze the current situation and future perspectives of tourism in Mexico.
According to information provided by the UT, one of the main objectives of the meeting is to contribute to the strategic development of higher education with a view towards a new university model through a series of proposals from tourism experts.
Expert panelists
To this end, 13 panels have been set up with the participation of prestigious national and international panelists, including Lourdes Berho, former director of the now defunct Mexican Tourism Promotion Council; John McCarthy, former general director of Fonatur and Leisure Partners Executive Chairman; and Yndira Castillo del Angel, academic and development coordinator of Technological and Polytechnic Universities.
The municipal president of Bahía de Banderas, Dr. Jaime Alonso Cuevas Tello; the Secretary of Tourism of the State of Nayarit, Lic. Antonio Riojas; and the Secretary of Economy of the State of Nayarit, Ing. are hosting the event.
Alfonso Rizzuto, president of Grupo Marival; Dr. Jorge Villanueva, president of the Puerto Vallarta and Banderas Bay Businessmen’s Association (AEBBA, by its acronym in Spanish; and Chef Betty Vázquez, the Riviera Nayarit’s Culinary Ambassador and judge of the Master Chef cooking reality show, are participating in the event to share their knowledge and experience.
The program will touch upon the following topics:
+ Relevance and perspective of Higher Technological Education in Tourism.
+ Present and future of tourism.
+ Safety and well-being of the tourist in the tourist destinations.
+ Intelligent tourism.
+ Gastronomic tourism.
+ Tourist product development.
+ Tourist environmental education.
+ Management of Rural Tourism and Protected Areas.
+ Health and Welfare Tourism.
+ Latent tourism and economic recovery.
+ “Magical Towns” (Pueblos Mágicos) tourism offer.
Of note is the fact this is the first event to be hosted by the School of the Technological University of Banderas Bay Hotel. This five-star teaching hotel includes the guests in the teaching-learning processes of future tourism professionals, allowing them to approach real situations during the course of their studies.
